The Alliance for the Golden Years stems fromthe Ravasi Garzanti Foundation’scommitment to building a new urban welfare system dedicated to longevity. It is a civic and generative pact that goes beyond a simple assistance program to transform vulnerability and needs into opportunities for community, solidarity, and social innovation.

What Is the Alliance for the Golden Years?

An Aging City, a Community That Responds

TheAlliance for the Golden Years was founded in response to a transformation that affects each and every one of us: we are living longer. Together, we are called upon to find ways to make the great and new experience of longevity a positive one, by addressing the challenges it presents and making the most of the opportunities it offers.

That is why  we are building a community network that connects the people and organizations that make up the city of Milan in order to make it a better place to live for all its residents.

The Alliance was founded on the initiative of the Ravasi Garzanti Foundation, which has been active for over a decade in the fields of culture, research, and social support, gradually building a network of relationships with other local organizations. This journey is guided by a common thread: fostering the growth and cohesion among those who, in various ways, work to support the development of the city and its residents.

Now the Foundation is rallying the entire Milanese community , offering itself as a compass to guide us together on the journey toward the city of longevity: a point of reference that, knowing the landscape and its key players, supports and connects collective action, highlighting everyone’s contribution toward a common goal.

The Alliance thus serves as a care ecosystem that connects institutions, foundations, the nonprofit sector, cultural and healthcare facilities, and local communities. It does not replace what already exists, but rather connects these elements, strengthens them, and makes them more accessible.

One application of this model is a network of community service centers (CuraMI & ProteggiMI), located in familiar and well-known places, such as libraries, community centers, and health clinics. Here, people find a listening ear, guidance, and support, as well as relationships and connections that help build a more accessible and coordinated urban care network.

Let’s imagine a city that recognizes itself as a whole as the resource capable of turning longevity into an opportunity, where no older adult and no caregiver is left alone. A city in which care is a shared good, built on relationships, community, and collective responsibility.

Building a widespread and accessible welfare ecosystem capable of integrating services, relationships, and communities. The Alliance works to connect those already active in this field so as to support people throughout their lives, strengthening local networks and transforming care into a shared value, free from economic or social barriers.
